Photos of St.Dennis on Friday 8th. May 2020 which is the second world war 75th. anniversary of Victory in Europe, VE Day. Photograph 7 shows the Union Jack flag that was carved into the stonework adjacent to the disused railway bridge at Hendra Prazey. No date is known for when the carving was made but nearby resident Shirley Smith aged 83 can remember that as a girl growing up in the village the carving was re-painted every year by children on VE day. Over time the carving became covered in vegetation but now thanks to Shirley it has been uncovered again by Shirley's neighbour Claire Greisen and her family and this year it has been re-painted by their son Charlie Greisen.
Outside the Working Men's Club there are paintings by local children commemorating VE Day.
